SUMMER HAIR

Every season brings a reason for change in hairdressing salons. I thought I would enlighten you all with a few ideas if you find yourself having a brain freeze when trying to come up with new ways to look a little (or a lot) different.
Personally I have always tried to steer my guests to put more depth or warmer tones into their hair during the summer months. The nasty sun either in New Zealand or Australia is so harsh that generally your colour looks completely lifeless after a walk around the block.
Here is a small collection of colours that will keep you looking on point, and products to help look after your colour and style while sun baking (with 70+ sunscreen smeared all over your body) at the beach this summer.

Balayage:

Should I even say the word.......”Balayage”

Balayage has been one of the biggest hair trends for the last ten years. Something hairdressers love and hate. We love it because it looks fantastic and every second person walks through the door wanting some version of balayage. But we also hate it because it's such low maintenance that we don't see our beautiful guests as often as we would like.

Incorporating a soft warm balayage to your block colour is the perfect low maintenance service for summer that can transform your hair into something spectacular.

Broange:

Brown and Orange in the same sentence is not what most of my guests like to hear, but I assure you that “broange” is extremely flattering. Bringing some warmth to your dull brunette hair can and will give you shine, which always makes your hair appear healthy (even if it isn't).  It brings colour to your skin without having to pile on a bunch of make up, and overall makes you feel fresher and I swear makes you look trendier (maybe thats just me thinking I'm cooler than I actually am)

Champayne Blonde:

AHHHHHHHHH!!! champagne blonde sounds delicious right? Well yes delicious in your mouth but also delicious on your head. Playing around with different toners is one of the easiest ways to spruce up your blonde hair over summer. Toners are never permanent and you can change back to your usual colour at the click of your fingers (by that I mean it will fade with each shampoo). So doing something like this in the salon is a quick, easy and a truely DELICIOUS way to transform your blonde for summer.

Now! As for the good old product pitch which I know most people roll their eyes at. I assure you that every product has its purpose and in summer and believe it or not it's super important to put sunscreen on your hair. Davines have a whole range devoted to protecting your hair from the sun (SU) so even if it's as little as using a spray leave in conditioner from this range it will make a world of difference to keeping your hair in great condition but also making sure your colour is looking great between visits to the salon.

Until next time!
